In total, the new Kendall Emergency Department includes two new trauma rooms, a behavioral health suite with five psychiatric holding rooms, 16 new and renovated patient rooms, support spaces in addition to the Stout Thomson Waiting Area and Outpatient Registration, Richard and Pamela Ader Foundation Lobby and the Marro Café. Exterior enhancements included a new main entrance with canopies and a new two-story atrium.

SVMC’s most ambitious construction project in the last 40 years, the new and updated space allows the medical center to better care for the current and emerging needs of their patient population in an expanded and modernized setting.

Last October, Moses-Ludington Hospital opened the doors to their new outpatient unit, the first phase of their $9 million renovation project. Last Thursday, there was cause for more celebration when a grand opening marked the completion of the second phase of work – the new emergency department.

More than four times the size of the existing emergency room, the new department offers four exam rooms, a four-bed observation unit, registration and family waiting spaces, expanded laboratory and pharmacy services, an ambulance bay and a decontamination area.

“The improvements that you are seeing here today play a vital role in making a real, tangible difference in terms of providing quality patient care within this local region,” said John Remillard, president of Elizabethtown Community Hospital and Moses Ludington, at the grand opening.

The next phase of construction includes a new radiology suite to house X-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, mammography and bone density scanning capabilities with access to a mobile MRI unit. The final phase will include a new physical therapy space with four private exam rooms and a large fitness area.

This is the first major renovation at the Moses-Ludington Hospital since 1981. The project was designed to modernize the facility while providing clinical staff with the flexibility to care for patients in a more efficient setting.

The entire project began last May and included various renovations and additions throughout the medical center’s campus. Work included a 14,000-square-foot, 20-room medical/surgical/ICU addition; a 14,000-square-foot medical clinic building; the 42,000-square-foot medical office building with connector corridor; a 6,000-square-foot lobby renovation; a loading dock expansion; and the relocation of the loop road around the facility. The renovation of a 13,000-square-foot, 14-room inpatient space is currently underway and is expected to be complete in January 2018.

Elizabethtown Community Hospital recently celebrated the completion of phase 1 of its inpatient renovation and expansion project. The $8 million project includes an 8,000-square-foot one-story addition and a 9,000-square-foot renovation to the critical access hospital in Elizabethtown, New York. The facility now houses 18 new private and semi-private patient rooms and support areas including new custom headwalls, lighting, power and HVAC.

PC Construction began preconstruction efforts with the hospital last spring and ramped up with construction in September.
